Abstract

This study is a classroom action research using the Snowball Throwing model in subjects of Natural Science with the material of Formation Process of Soil in the fifth grade of Public Primary School 040570 of Tigabinanga in School Year 2016/2017.The place of this research is implemented is Public Primary School 040570 of Tigabinanga. The subjects of this study were the fifth-graders in Public Primary School 040570 of Tigabinanga consisting of 25 students, 15 boys and 10 girls. The object of this research is the use of Snowball Throwing model to improve the learning outcomes of students in the subjects of Natural Science with the material of Formation Process of Soil. The instruments used are observation sheets of teacher activities, observation sheets of student activities, and essay test.This research was conducted in two cycles, which was held on March - May 2017. The results of the research in cycle I showed that the implementation of learning on the activity of teachers have a score of 59.9% belonging to the category of fair, and the result of observation of student activity have score of 68 which also belong to the category of fair. For completeness of the learning outcomes of students the following results are obtained: in terms of individual completeness of learning outcomes, in accordance with the criteria of minimum completeness of 65, 64% of students are completed and 36% of students are not completed. The average value of the learning outcomes of students in cycle I is 63.58. The learning outcomes of students in cycle I have not been maximal, so proceed to the next cycle. The results of the research in cycle II showed that the implementation of learning for the activities of teachers have a score of 71.9% belonging to the category of good, while for the activities of students have score of 82 that fall into the category of good. In terms of individual completeness of learning outcomes, there are 22 (88%) students are completed. In terms of classical completeness of learning outcomes, it is known that 88% of students are completed and 12% of students are not completed. The average value of the learning outcomes of students in cycle I is 69,52.Thus, from the results of the data analysis it can be concluded that the implementation of learning by use of Snowball Throwing model in the subjects of Natural Science with the material of Formation Process of Soil in the fifth-grade students of Public Primary School 040570 of Tigabinanga in School Year 2016/2017 belong to the categories of good and the learning outcomes are improving.
