Abstract

This research was a classroom action research using cooperative model learning think pair share (TPS) type in mathematics subject. This study purposes were to determine the implementation of learning, student learning completeness, achievement of learning objectives and the ability of students using cooperative model of think pair share type which was better than conventional learning in determining the limit of algebra function in XI IPA class of SMA Katolik 1 Kabanjahe for academic year 2016/2017. Location in this research was SMA Katolik 1 Kabanjahe. This was based on the consideration that students had still difficulties in learning limit of algebra function. The subjects of the study were the students of X IPA-A class as the experimental class with 40 students and X IPA - B class as the control class with 40 students. Object used was the improvement of learning in determining limit of algebra function which was done by using cooperative model of think pair share (TPS) type. The instruments used were observation sheets and test sheets. Based on the obtained data analysis showed that implementation of learning already in good category, the completeness learning of students already reached classically, achiement of specitif learning purpose is complete and students' ability in limit of algebra function using cooperative model of think pair share (TPS) type is better than those whom taught by conventional learning in X IPA class of SMA Katolik 1 Kabanjahe for academic year 2016/2017.
